Funeral services will be held for Thomas E. Turner Jr. on Friday, January 11th, 2019 at 11 am at Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville. Visitation will be from 10 am until the start of the service.
Thomas born in Carrollton, MS on July 13th, 1929 to Estelle McGaugh Turner and Thomas Turner, who preceded him in death in 1966 and were buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Carrollton.
The family had moved to Indianola in 1943 where Thomas graduated from Indianola High School in 1948 and married his high school sweetheart - Faye Kisner Turner of Indianola. They were married 70 plus years and had two daughters, Linda Turner (David) Dorris who preceded him in death in 2013 and Gaye Turner (Jim) Bradford, who live in Greenville; where Thomas and Faye have lived for 40 plus years. He was known as a "good" man, "kind" man, and who was always smiling. He was a Godly man, a great husband, father, and sibling (of 8 children). He managed Choate's Furniture Co. and Village Furniture for many years. He was a faithful servant for the Lord at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, acting as deacon, treasurer, teacher, singer and whatever else was needed because he was that dedicated and talented.
Thomas and Faye were blessed with five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. The grandchildren are Shelly McDonald Beckham (Alan) of Memphis, TN; LeAnn Dorris Thames (Monte) of Ringgold, LA, Pamela Dorris Freeman (Garrett) of Alexandria, LA, Stephanie Dorris Richardson (Zach) of Beaver, WV, and Sarah Bradford of MO. The great grandchildren are Mackenzie and Deacon Richardson, Nathan and Sydney Freeman, and Rachel and Dillon Thames. The great great grandchild is Mariana Cadenas.

Tommy was preceded in death by six of his seven siblings: a brother, Orman Ross (Dell) of Oxford, Vivian Ross Shute of Greenville, Dell Ross Pyron (Willie) of Indianola, Josephine Ross Mosely (Harvey) of Blackhawk, Lynn Ross Talbert Johnson (Franklin) of Greenville, and Leona Ross Brownlow (Ike) of Pascagoula. He leaves behind one sister, the youngest of 8 happy children, Hazel Turner Penn of Carrollton. All of his, nieces and nephews adored "Uncle Tommy", because he was fun.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice.
Ministers will be David Lee and Marvin Pyron. Music will be conducted by Tommy's granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be Monte Thames, Zach Richardson, Bobby Henson, Garrett Freeman, Jimmy Ross, and Robert Dale Kisner. Honorary pallbearers will be Abe Menhel, Wayne Dorris, Bobby Hovis, Jimmy O'Brian, and Bobby Crowe.
