Obituary for Jessie Vernie Williams Crawford

Jessie Crawford,73, of Silver City, passed away peacefully at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, on November 8, 2020.

Jessie was born in Hollandale on May 20, 1947. She grew up in and around Humphreys County, attending school in Silver City before graduating, at the top of her class, from Belzoni High School in 1966. As a young woman, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was later baptized by Brother Paul Broadway. Jessie married William Crawford on December 20, 1966. She gave birth on February 26, 1974, to their daughter and best friend, Ashley Crawford.

Jessie was smart, funny, and quick witted. She made friends easily. She was a wonderful cook, an avid reader, music collector, and a TV/movie watcher. She enjoyed the outdoors, and loved all animals, especially her cats. She was devoted to her family. They loved her infinitely and will miss her always.

Jessie leaves behind her husband of 54 years, William, daughter, Ashley Crawford of Silver City, sister, Lillie Mae Hood of Gooden Lake, several nieces and nephews. She preceded is death by her mother, Frances Williams, brother Richard Williams, and her grandfather, Vernon.

Per her wishes, she was cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Bessie Mae Outlaw. Wilma Childs, Silver City Baptist Church, Gooden Lake Baptist Church for their help and support during their time of sorrow.
