Obituary for Harper Leon Cobb

Harper Leon Cobb, 73, of Madison, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019, in his home surrounded by family. He was born on November 22, 1945 to Harper and Mae Sue Cobb of Belzoni.

Leon loved his family and had a passion for hunting! Until he became ill and unable to work, he was a successful commercial roofer, among other trades, throughout his lifetime. He served in the National Guard for eight years. He was a support of St. Jude Hospital and had a heart to help others. He never met a stranger and has numerous friends all over this Country that he loved. He was always playing jokes on his family and friends, most the stories that they will never forget. Leon lived his life for his family. He lived big and loved big until he took his last breath. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Belzoni.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Harper and Mae Sue, his brothers, Earnest and Edward, and sister Marguerite. He is survived by his bride of fifty five years, Joanne Jeffries Cobb, daughters, Melissa and Cindy, son, Lee and his daughter in love Courtney, seven grandchildren, Mindy (Jonas), Kayla, Trace (Virginia), Kristi, Jeremy, Laney and Lawson, great grandchildren, Gracie, Braden, Alessa, Elam, and John, brother, Richard (Patsy), his sister, Annie Ruth and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday November 9, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church of Belzoni. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am till service time at 11:30.

Reverend Richard Wiman will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Chris Mann, Marc Mann, Richey Cobb, Andy Cobb, Wayne Lloyd, and Ward Cobb. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Ray Vernon, TC Myers, Jim McElroy, Paul Foley, Jim Elliott, and Bobby Cobb.

Mortimer Funeral Home of Belzoni has been entrusted with the services.
