Service Details

Grace Brooks Gilder, 83, of Naples Florida, passed away at Vitas Healthcare Facility in Naples on Monday, September 30, 2019 with family by her side.
Mrs. Gilder was born in Denham, Buckinghamshire, England on May 8th, 1936 to Frederick Scrace Brooks and Grace Lillian Armour Brooks. She graduated high school and met the love of her life, Donald Hamilton Gilder at Ruislip Air Force Base, near London, England where he was stationed in the US Air Force. They married on June 25, 1955 in Slough, England.
After Mr. Gilder’s retirement from USAF, they moved to Greenville, Mississippi to make their home in 1972. Mrs. Gilder was Manager of Schlom’s Jewelry for over 30 years. She was a Certified Gemologist. She was a long-time member of Parkview Baptist Church/Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greenville.
She is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Don, who passed away November 28th, 2015. Mrs. Gilder moved to Naples FL June 2018 to live with family and enjoy the Florida sunshine.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Donald (Shirley) of Naples, FL, and Timothy Drexel (Beth) Gilder of Ft. Worth, TX; five grandchildren, Dr. Andrew Stephen Gilder (Danielle) of San Diego, CA, Nicholas Hamilton Gilder of Memphis, TN, Stephanie Grace Gilder, Christian Joiner Gilder and Timothy Boone Gilder, all of Ft. Worth, TX; two sisters, Joyce Evelyn Smith and Queenie Dorothy Morton of England, three brothers, Lionel Brooks and David Brooks of England, and Dennis Brooks of Australia, one brother in law, Larry Anderson Gilder (Sharon) of Overland Park, KS, one very special niece, Angela Holland of La Cygne, KS, nephew, Ryan Gilder of Olathe, KS, nephew, Colin Smith of Denver, CO, sister-in-law, Dot Gilder of Greenville and the light of her life for the past six months, great grandson, Anderson James Gilder of San Diego CA.
Mrs. Gilder was known by all her friends as a woman of faith, great humor and sharp wit. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and multitude of friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Mortimer Funeral Home with visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home. Memorials made be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Mission Fund at Cornerstone Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
