Evelyn was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Brinkley. In
the 1960’s, she was a member of the folk singing group, the
Mommettes, and appeared numerous times on Little Rock television
stations. She became a dental assistant to Dr. K.C. McGraw, and when
she left there when he retired, she opened The Top Shop in Brinkley.

She successfully ran her shop for 3 years, doing screen prints on T-Shirts
for people in the community, before she sold the business. She began
to wait tables at three restaurants, The Flames, Simon’s Old South
Pancake House, and Gene’s Bar-B-Que. Later, she worked for Monroe
County Home Health, where she offered her kindness and compassion
to those who could no longer clean or cook for themselves. She was a
lifelong sports fan and her favorite team was the Arkansas Razorbacks.
She doted on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
volunteered for many school projects, including cake walks to
chaperoning trips. Her love of the community shone through in every
aspect of her life.
