Patricia Ann (Pat) Reddell Young of McCrory, formerly of Brinkley and Cotton Plant, died April 9, 2017 at the Woodruff County Health Center, where she had been a resident for 5 years. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, from 5-7 pm at Fowler Funeral Home in Brinkley and funeral services will be Wednesday, April 12 at 2 pm. Preceding her in death were her parents, TJ and Letha Cisco Reddell, husband, Wayne Young, son, Gregory Young, brothers, Kenneth and Donald Reddell, and sister, Barbara Nell Reddell. She is survived by her son, Keith Jefferson Young, and 3 sisters, Dorothy Caldwell of Raleigh, North Carolina, Peggy Rooks and husband, Gerald of McCrory, Betty Jones and husband, Don of Hot Springs and one sister in law, Faye Norviel of McCrory, and several nieces, nephews.

Mrs. Young was a devout Christian, whose faith was reflected in her unselfish life as a daughter, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and colleague. She was an active member of Grays Apostolic Christian Church, where she enjoyed teaching a youth Sunday School class and hosting youth activities for many years.

Pat was born and reared on a farm near Cotton Plant. She attended Cotton Plant elementary and high school and earned honors, including valedictorian and homecoming queen. She married Wayne Young in 1960 and lived in Cotton Plant and McCrory before moving to Brinkley for the rest of their married life where they reared two adored sons, Gregory Wayne and Keith Jefferson Young.

Pat had a 45-year banking career that began as a secretary-bookkeeper for First National Bank of Brinkley and ended as a vice president. Through new owners, mergers and name changes, loyal customers remained as long as “Miss Pat” was there. She received an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from East Arkansas Community College. Civic activities were an important part of her life. She was president and treasurer of the Brinkley Chamber of Commerce and president and “Woman of the Year” of the Brinkley Business and Professional Women. She was a charter member and treasure of the Literacy Counsel of Monroe County. She also served 9 years on the board and 3 years as treasurer of East Arkansas Mental Health Center and was the recipient of the “Distinguished Service Award” given by the Arkansas State Mental Health Counsel.

Pat was an avid reader and gardener and enjoyed camping and attending sports events, especially tailgating at Razorback football games. She was very much a “people person” and was never happier than when their home was full of family and friends celebrating holidays and other special occasions.
